Knives, axes and spirits

I'm reading my first Arto Paasilinna book called Hirnuva Maailmanloppu, and as his books describe Finnish life and Finns, I soon came across the below excerpt. It's a stereotypical view of Finns – at least among Finns. At yet, in some fundamental level... so true.
In regular circumstances you don't start anything crazy, nothing suddenly wild or fun, except when you're drunk. Even then Finnish men usually settle for stabbing their drinking buddy to death or killing their wives with an ax, and, to see things to an end, hang themselves afterwards... that is the whole elation of creative civil disobedience.
(Translation by me; sorry for the clumsiness.)
